You are here: Mas d'Auphan - Birds

Site list. Nearly 190 birds have been seen at Mas d'Auphan, i.e. within "binocular distance", over the years. That list (click here for the list - it will open in MS Word) is confined to our lowland habitats (the list for the Camargue numbers well over 300). We can tell you where to see particular birds locally, e.g. wetland or upland species, and have good contacts with local ornithologists for specialised information. For the latest hotspots and observations in the area you can consult http://oiseauxprovence.free.fr/glareola-index.htm or http://fr.groups.yahoo.com/group/obsmedit/.

Le Sambuc - Click here for Dr Alan Johnson's list of 114 species for the village in 2007. Note that Alan has ... at last! ... finished his book on Flamingos, the result of the best part of a lifetime's research. Click here to buy a copy now!

Trip reports. You may wish to look at

Manu’s belle journée in the Camargue (23 August 2007)

Ron & Val Moat’s report (5-15 October 2004)

Geoff Dicker’s report (13-21 January 2004)

If you know of other useful ones we should list please tell us. We have also just started to ask visitors to submit their trip lists - so here are the first few - Fred & Marja Koning’s (August 2007), James’s list (July-August 2007) and Pete & Jan Thompson’s quick-list 1-5 October 2006. We will post more as we get round to typing or retyping them.
